The RC extraction equipment consists of an airtight barrel and a partition-paneled
bowl.
Inside the barrel a perforated plate-fitted inner cylinder is provided
at the lower part of the shroud. Extracted particles (micelle) dissolved
in the solvent sprayed from above are allowed to flow together with the
solvent between the inner cylinder, which is divided into several compartments,
and the outer barrel and are subsequently recovered.
While the bowl makes one turn, the charging of raw material, extraction
of micelle from raw material and discharge of spent raw material take place
continuously. During this process, raw material is sprayed from above a
discharge-side cell and micelles dissolved in solvent are pumped up to
circulate to the top of a cell (upstream) opposite to the turning direction
of the bowl. This gives rise to a counterflow between raw material and
solvent, allowing them to contact a number of times, providing high-density
micelles.
The spent material is fully dewatered and discharged from the bottom outlet.
The equipment is capable of fully discharging spent material and used solvent.
For cleaning the interior, a solvent spray is used.
