Overview of Equipment

VOS (Venturi Oxygen StrippingTM) system is a safe, compact, cost-effective deoxygenation method to treat ballast water. The VOS system is the first to meet IMO D-2 standards as well as the first to be certified to the IMO G-8 Guideline. VOS system not only eliminates the transfer of aquatic microorganisms, but also significantly reduces ballast tank corrosion. As VOS Systems consists from well known equipments in the ship industry, stable operation and easy maintenance can be performed. MKK had been licensed this technology from NEI Treatment Systems, LLC for Japanese shipping industry.

A processing principle

VOS system is based on the water physics of Henry¡Çs Law, which dictates the solubility of oxygen gas in water. In less than 10 seconds, Venturi Oxygen StrippingTM removes 95 percent of dissolved oxygen from ballast water by mixing very low-oxygen inert gas generated by Stripping Gas Generator with natural water as it is drawn into the ship as ballast. In a process similar to evaporation, the gas strips the water of its oxygen. By removing oxygen from ballast water, the VOS system creates an environment where aquatic organisms and rust cannot live.
